This note reads Kolmogorov Theory (KT) as the latest station of a single, long argument about persistent form. Pythagoras intuits that reality has intelligible, ratio-like structure; Plato makes structure --- not matter --- the carrier of identity; Aristotle brings form down into matter as the organization of a living substance and names its self-maintaining directedness entelechy; Kant shows that objects and experience are synthesized across time; Schopenhauer adds the striving pole; and Turing with algorithmic information theory supplies the finite mechanism and the measure. KT gathers these into one claim: an agent is a persistent algorithmic form --- a bounded, compressive self-and-world model maintained through material turnover by regulation, evaluated by an objective function, and selected through the filter of time. On this reading KT is a computational hylomorphism: form is the bounded self-code, and telehomeostasis (=[Pers] ^ = [Pers]) is a computational version of Aristotelian entelechy and final cause. Compactly: Aristotle gives the ontology of patterns, Kant the epistemology of patterns, and KT their computational dynamics. This is an essay-length lineage map; the program's two longer philosophical statements --- WP0005 (Algorithmic Experiential Structural Platonism) and WP0080 (The Algorithmic Weltanschauung) --- carry the full metaphysics.

Kolmogorov Theory is the computational endpoint of a 2,500-year argument about what it means for a pattern to persist through time.

The paper's central move is to read a sequence of philosophers not as isolated thinkers but as successive refinements of one idea: that what makes something a thing — an organism, a mind, an agent — is not its matter but its form, and specifically a form that maintains itself. Pythagoras notices the world is compressible into ratios. Plato says identity lives in structure, not stuff. Aristotle brings that insight down to earth: a living body is matter organized by form, and the soul is just what that organization is. His word entelechy — being-at-work-staying-itself — is the key. Kant then asks how a subject can have a structured world at all, and answers: by synthesizing sensory input under stable cognitive conditions. Schopenhauer adds the felt pressure to continue existing. Turing and algorithmic information theory supply the mechanism and the ruler.

Kolmogorov Theory (KT) gathers all of this into one definition: an agent is a persistent algorithmic form — a bounded, compressive model of self and world, maintained through material turnover, evaluated by an objective function, and selected by time. The paper calls this "computational hylomorphism." Aristotle's matter/form distinction maps cleanly onto substrate/algorithm. His entelechy maps onto telehomeostasis: the agent acts to maximize expected future persistence of its own pattern. Final causation — the acorn "aiming" at the oak — is naturalized without mysticism: there's no backward-acting purpose, just systems whose dynamics happen to preserve their own organization, and time filters out the ones that don't.

Two Kantian moves get precise computational translations. The synchronic unity of consciousness — the fact that vision, sound, and touch feel like one experience — becomes co-compression: a single model MtM_t makes the joint description of all sensory streams shorter than their sum. The diachronic continuity — the self persisting through time — becomes high algorithmic mutual information between the model now and the model later. Crucially, neither implies a soul-substance; both are properties of the informational organization, not evidence for a ghost in the machine. The paper makes the same anti-homunculus move for free will: an agent doesn't escape mechanism, it's a mechanism that models itself as a cause. That's enough for agency; it's not libertarian freedom.

The paper is explicitly a lineage map and dictionary, not a full metaphysical treatise — it points to WP0005 and WP0080 for the deeper argument. Its value is the translation table it provides: every major term from the philosophical tradition gets a precise KT counterpart, and the result is a surprisingly clean division of labor. Aristotle gives the ontology of patterns (being is persistent form), Kant gives the epistemology of patterns (experience is temporal synthesis), and KT gives the dynamics (how a finite computational system actually does it). The punchline, stated twice in the paper: structured experience plus persistence implies agency, and persistence grounds intentionality.
